How It Works

Full in 2 hours. Four steps.

  1. 1

Drop the cells into the charger

Place your SCIGOLD AA 1.5V Li-ion cells into the CW505 4-slot or CW508 8-slot charger, matching the + and − terminals shown in each slot. The smart chip recognizes SCIGOLD cells automatically.

  2. 2

    Connect any USB-C power source

Plug a USB-C cable into the charger and connect it to any 5V/3A source — a phone wall charger, laptop USB-C port, GaN brick, power bank, or car charger. No proprietary adapter needed.

  3. 3

    Watch the per-cell status display

The LCD (CW505) or per-slot LED (CW508) shows each cell charging independently. A nearly empty cell and a half-full one both charge to their own correct 1.5V target and stop when done.

  4. 4

    Done in about 2 hours

Four cells charge from empty to full in roughly 2 hours at 5V/3A. Charging stops automatically when each cell is full — the Smart Protection System guards against over-charge, over-temperature, and short-circuit, so it is safe to leave plugged in.

Frequently Asked

Quick answers, before you buy.

Does the CW505 charger come with batteries?

No. The CW505 is sold as the charger only, with no AA cells included. It is meant for owners who already have SCIGOLD cells and want a second charger or a replacement. To get cells too, buy the 4-pack of cells separately or choose the complete kit that pairs cells with the CW505.

Why would I buy the CW505 charger by itself?

A standalone charger is for owners who already have SCIGOLD AA cells. Keep one CW505 on your desk and one in your bag so you never wonder whether you packed it. A second unit also lets you charge one set while you run another, and it is inexpensive insurance against a lost or damaged charger.

How fast does the CW505 charge a full set of cells?

About two hours to take four cells from empty to full. The CW505 accepts USB-C input at 5V/3A and delivers 380 mA per slot across its four independent slots. Each slot charges on its own, so you can top off one, two, three, or four cells at a time without waiting on the others.

What does the per-cell LCD on the CW505 show?

The CW505 has a per-cell LCD that displays each slot's charge level individually, so you can see at a glance which cells are full and which are still topping up. Because every slot is managed independently, the display reflects the real status of each cell rather than a single combined indicator.

Which batteries are compatible with the CW505 charger?

The CW505 charges SCIGOLD AA 1.5V lithium cells only. A smart chip recognizes the cells before charging begins, which keeps the regulated charging profile accurate. It is not a universal NiMH or alkaline charger; pair it with SCIGOLD AA cells for the correct voltage and protection behavior.

Is the CW505 charger safe to leave plugged in?

Yes. The CW505 includes Smart Protection covering over-charge, over-temperature, short-circuit, and over-discharge conditions. Charging stops automatically once cells are full. The unit is certified to UN 38.3, IEC 62133-2, FCC, CE, and RoHS standards, so it is built to remain connected safely between uses.
